Ok so the last three days were quite an adventure. With finals and everything going on I really didn't have the opportunity to pack. Kyle had his eagle court of honor and I ate dinner with ann so I didn’t get back to provo until about 10 and then I went and saw mark and Noe before they move next month. So by the time I had time to pack it was already midnight. Needless to say I didn’t get much sleep. None at all actually. I stayed up packing until 6 am when were left for the airport. I got there and checked in at the desk and made it up to the gate with about twenty minutes to spare. I went and got this breakfast burrito thing from California Pizza Kitchen that was SO good! I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It had eggs cheese bacon, and sausage all rolled into one big breakfast burrito. And it was huge! I needed that to get started because of the lack of sleep. It was funny Dr. Lawrence looked at me and asked did you get any sleep? I shot back at him a real quick “nope” with a smug smirk. We boarded shortly after that and flew to LAX. We had two hourse to kill in LA and then we got on the 777-200 huge Korean airplane. It was really nice. The seats each had their own media displays like the aircanada flight I took to China, but they also included slippers for us to wear instead of shoes which was aweome. I felt like Del Griffith taking off my shoes on the plane like that but needless to say, “my Dogs were barkin.’” I watched quite a few movies on board, Disney;s new princess and the frog was pretty funny. They ha the new Hachiko with Richard Gere that I have wanted to see for awhile and that was great. Blind Side, and forrest gump finished things off. They also had these simple but fun games to play. Battleship, Hangman etc. Whats a flight without hangman!? The food was interesting…to say the least. Wasn’t a huge fan of that but they did have nikumons! YUM! Piping hot rolls with spiced meat inside…absolute bliss that one is. Anyways we landed in Narita and that was when things got interesting. We all made it out of customs just fine and into the main entrance of the train station however we got separated from Dr. Lawrence and his family. They went right out of customs, and we went left. Anyways all 8 of us were waiting to meet up with them and it just didn’t happen. I hope they are ok. We waited and paged them over and over for about 2 hours and finally decided to just go. We knew that we were going to Kyoto and that we were supposed to get to meet out host families there but were didn’t know anything, We utilized our resources and I led them all down here. It was rough because I had to make the call to just go, but we needed to do it. We got our tickets and went to Tokyo station and from there boarded the Shinkansen and took that to Kyoto. Just to get to Kyoto took a one hour drive to the airport, an hour ½ flight to LA, an 11 hour flight to Japan, an hour train ride to Tokyo, and another 3 hour train ride to Kyoto. It was a long day! That's not to mention the down time we had waiting for everything either. I think I made it to Legally insane (over 72 hours without sleep) legitimately this time. I couldn’t sleep much on the trains because I was in charge and had to make sure we hit all of our marks. Anyways then I goto to meet my host family. Fukuyama go-kazoku. They seem very very nice and sweet. Im really grateful to them for being so accomidating. I have met three of them, kyoudai, shimai and their daughter Asuka. Kyodai is the bishop here and it seems like he is really busy with that. We were talking last night about how there just aren’t a lot of people who can bear the weight of that calling or callings like that and so the ones who are able tend to be utilized quite a bit. He was a teacher of high school history for a long time but he recently changed to speed reading. (teachin it that is). He made me this ramen last night that was soooo good! I feel bad because I was so tired last night i don't know what I said half the time and my japsnese is so rusty that its funny. Shimai seems really sweet. She said that she has two other kids; boys one serving a mission and the other is at BYU- H just got back. She asks a lot of questions and was curious about what I like to eat etc. We got talking last night about church related stuff and it was a really cool discussion. Just about where Japan is on getting converts and how teaching is going etc. She wanted to know where I wanted to go while staying here. At first I didn't know what to say. I started thinking about it and spputing off some story about last time I was here what sll I got to do and talked about food places I had gone to. Not the best idea when talking to your host mom. So I quickly shifter gears and went with historical sites. That got things to talk about on the table. I honestly just wanted to come here to practice Japanese and to learn to read better. Oh well. I guess we’ll see. Anyways that night finally ended with a bath that was so needed.

  4. man, those nikumans on the plane are, I think, the tastiest things I have ever eaten in my entire life. Haha.

Way to take charge of the situation, JJ! Though it does suck that you had to do it. Hopefully everyone will work something out/actually take care if themselves so you can relax some more and enjoy everything more.

    元気で!
